CASE STUDY – JOB OPENING FOR SENIOR SALES TRAINER, TECH SALES
Client: OWN BACKUP
OwnBackup believes that no company operating on the cloud should ever lose data. With comprehensive backup, visual compare, and fast recovery capabilities, they have helped hundreds of organizations through data loss and corruption crises. Their solution also provides enterprises with the performance and reporting required to meet compliance regulations in several industries. They provide secure, automated, daily backups of SaaS and PaaS data, including Salesforce.
The company was co-founded by technology veterans with deep experience in data recovery, data protection, and information security. OwnBackup’s solutions provide built-in protection against data loss and corruption caused by human error, malicious intent, integration error, and rogue applications.
All of this has helped make OwnBackup the top-ranked backup and restore ISV on the Salesforce.com AppExchange, a venue the solution has been listed on since 2012, and to gain recognition as a Gartner “Cool Vendor” in Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery.
Problem:
OwnBackup was struggling to find Senior Sales Trainer, Tech Sales who will implement, and communicate the sales training and business strategies in alignment with company priorities to ensure a best-in-class team member experience. The perfect candidate should also have experience in enterprise sales and should have closed sales deals of a minimum of $1M. The ideal hire should also have proven sales training and coaching experience with a great track record of coaching sales reps to increase their win/close ratio and shorten the sales cycle.
Solution:
TALSMART was engaged to have a taste of their own medicine, as we are also in sales training and coaching. It took us almost 6 months before we started finding the right sales trainers for TALSART’s course delivery. By that time, we did not have the technological support of our AI, data mining, and bulk emailing technology. We were able to source 57 candidates in 1 week and were able to combine our technology along with our IT Sales IQ assessments and tech sales trainers to find the top performers.
17 candidates who scored more than 70% in TALSMART IT Sales IQ assessments were shortlisted. Only those with relevant Tech Sales and Training experience were interviewed and 5 were presented to the client for further interviews.
Job Description: Senior Sales Trainer, Tech sales
We are searching for a Senior Sales Trainer (with 7-15 years experience) in sales training and enterprise sales.
The sales trainer will implement and communicate the sales training and business strategies in alignment with company priorities to ensure a best-in-class team member experience. The area of focus will include training programs that will increase the skills, knowledge, and behaviors of sales roles with the goal of positively impacting field results.

Our client is a SaaS company and established leader in data protection for over 10 years in business and over USD 3 Billion in evaluation, and has their software integrated with Large CRM software companies.
Candidate MUST Have
- Extensive experience in sales training.
- Enterprise sales experience of closing up to a 7-figure deal size.
- Ten (7) plus years of experience in a similar role.
